Bike routes plan

Bike routes plan

To joggle our memory, last week there were reports about the plan by councils in London and Paris to jointly work on a project consisting of 218 miles of bike routes linking the two big cities. The scheme, it was revealed, could be ready for the 2012 Olympics. This, perhaps, means many bikers would find it a fun travelling by bike between the UK and France either during the games or at other times. But has anyone considered the implication of travelling that far on a bike and safety measures needed by each biker, even though the routes were described as potentially safe?

Since the credit crunch made a war declaration on us all there has been a continuous and consistent switch to biking. The major reason for this is cost cutting. Cutting one's expenses is the only easily available option for most people. In the face of soaring costs of motoring, especially fuel prices that until recently sky-rocketed beyond most people's convenient reach, many motorists decided the one simple way out was to switch to biking. This would save them money and the worries associated with other means of mobility, like keeping a car on the road.
